Nicolette R. Contella, M.A. CCC-SLP

From a young age, Nicolette Rose Contella knew she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives through communication and connection. Today, as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) based in Belmar, Monmouth County, New Jersey, she helps children and adults find their voices, strengthen their communication skills, build executive function skills, and gain confidence in how they connect with others.

Education & Early Career

Nicolette earned both her Bachelor and Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Maryland, where she distinguished herself through academic excellence and leadership. She served on faculty search committees and contributed to research on transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) for individuals with prolonged post-concussion symptoms.

Her passion for brain-based communication recovery also led her to present poster sessions on tVNS and aphasia, merging clinical curiosity with her commitment to advancing the field.

Nicolette’s impact has been recognized at both state and national levels. She received the ASHA Distinguished Early Career Professional Award in 2023 and is a two-time recipient of the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE), completing over 140 hours of advanced training in communication, literacy, feeding, neurological rehabilitation, and executive function support.
